9. Wind effect, too, from blowing snow

causing poor visibility and whiteouts. That's especially true on the lake shore where Sandusky is. Wind blows across Lake Erie. Plus steadily falling snow can obscure where the road is by covering up prior tracks and drifting into the already plowed snow. Been there many times. (The conditions, not the mega accident.)
