(79,185 posts)I think one can compare this to what took place in the late 1960s throughearly '70s. Groups morphed, from hippies to YIPPIES! to the Weathermen to the Weather Underground to the much lesser-known Zippies. In part, this was due to the social-political changes in environment, and a huge factor in that was the infiltration, disruption, and prosecution of "activists."
The pressures -- both real and imagined -- break groups into smaller sub-groups. And in these, less talented "leaders" arise. The combination of paranoia and more violence-prone idiots as sub-group leaders is never a good thing. Thus, older forum members are likely to have memories of the very crude Zippies' "underground" newsletters outlining attacks on power lines.
The FBI and numerous law enforcement agencies have infiltrated, disrupted, and -- as the January 6 insurrectionists have found -- prosecuted the larger mage-militia groups. In the past two years, they have split and divided into smaller cellws, with -- if it is possible -- stupider "leadership." And what ideas do stupid, violent people have for winning friends and influencing others? You can't make this shit up.
The idea for a Tet-like offensive is definitely possible. Hopefully, they will have the same results as those in the March 6, 1970 Greenwich Village townhouse.
