(38,692 posts)COVID impacts so many body systems that each is likely to have its own (or perhaps more than one) form of long COVID. It will likely be decades before we sort this out - and once we discover the full impact it will be too late to help all of the folks who might have prevented infection with a little precaution, had they taken it seriously.
Mine was primarily GI (pancreatitis and some form of slow emptying of the bile from the gall bladder, as well as bouts of severe cramps and intense diarrhea). But in looking for what caused the pancreatitis, they tested for immune deficiencies related to autoimmune pancreatitis. I didn't have that particular deficiency, but I had others. Since I don't currently have symptoms I've only had a generalized follow-up test - which looks normal. (The general test is a sum of the individual tests - so a high could cancel out a low and look normal. They won't repeat the individual tests unless I have symptoms, since they are expensive and usually only done to track down causes of unexplained symptoms like pancreatitis or frequent and severe respiratory infections.)
