(1,766 posts)CA needs someone in the Senate who can benefit from incumbency over many years. She's a great Democrat, but Barbara Lee would be a wasted vote in that regard.
I adore Katie Porter beyond all reason, but her district (47th) is R+2. Running with Biden at the top of the ticket in 2024 will help secure the seat, but that's only temporary. We have to think beyond that to 2030, when maybe a more favorable redistricting will secure the seat better. Since it's unlikely another D would win there beyond 2024, Katie needs to stay where she is a while longer. She's relatively young, so she'll get her chance.
Schiff wouldn't cost us a House seat; at D+23, the 30th is true blue. You could run a paper clip as a D in that district, and it would pummel an r thug.
Of the three, Schiff is the most pragmatic choice for keeping the Senate and taking back control of the House, or at least not losing ground there until 2030.
