I started snarkily pondering just how totally reliable major news outlets are anyway.

Then I got lost thinking about AI and deep fakes, and the legions of unscrupulous actors creating all this stuff, and it suddenly hit me that getting to the actual 'THIS' that you are referring to, is perhaps our biggest problem.

Presuming this event actually occurred, then it's atrocious, and I agree. Government should be intervening here. It's a public safety issue. Or at least most of us on this forum believe it is.

If, on the other hand, it's all an elaborate fake, then boy howdy have we got maybe even a bigger problem, right?
