(with quarterly direct deposits from the government(s) again, depending on your yearly income declared on your tax returns), overall you would not pay $24,000/yr to be fully insured, you and your family, but your tax bracket would be higher than it is now.

The more you earn, the more you pay. Incomes of less than $20,000/yr don't pay any income taxes, but some VATs on goods AND services in all provinces (again with direct deposits every 3 months based on your yearly declared net income as partial reimbursements).
