All the issues you have in life. How many of those problems could be solved, or at least made much more tolerable, if you had unlimited amounts of money?
Now think about these billionaires who signed checks to Rove. They dont have the problems you and I have. They likely have never known any hardship that cant be resolved with cash. They have been able to buy anything and get what they want because they have the resources.
So to answer your question, yes they thought they could buy an election. You and I know that boots on the ground and hard work is how you win an election. All they have ever done is collect money and invest it. They thought those principles would work here because thats the only perspective they have.
