My aunt was one of the first people to have a valve replacent surgery. It was back in the early 1960s if I remember well. Even though the technology was primitive then, she had many healthy years.
I'm sure they've improved enormously by now and we trust and hope the prognosis will be even better than what it was for my aunt.
