(53,751 posts)I can find 99% of things I look for (and a lot of the things I look for are HARD AF to find, lol, a lot is not even on YT, so I have to go to Soulseek (the oldest version, it is still up and has so much lost gold, especially electronic and punk and old ska and old jazz) or other places and download it).
I also discover many bands and songs I would have never heard of if not for the net. My oldest brother taught me how to download when I was 5 in 2002, lol (I could already read quite well by then). Napster had already shut down by then (he was pissed!) Been doing it ever since, especially as I grew older. I was also lucking becuase other my me, the rest of my family was truly musically gifted (well my younger brother not so much, but he thought he was the worlds greatest DJ, lol, he was shite, unlike my oldest brother, lol)-
Of course, growing up in London, I was exposed in real life to a shedload of music that never really caught on in the US for ages.
early grime, for instance (mummy HATED me listening to it!, but me bruv would feed my thirst with CD mixes he burnt, lol)
