It is true that in the good old days, the mafia had strict rules of conduct. They were restricted to who they could kill. I remember when I was a kid, listening at my bedroom door as the adults talked, one of my uncles -- a legendary investigator -- saying to my father, "We don't care so much when they kill one another. But it gets serious when they kill human beings." Another thing was the code of honor that prevented someone facing years in prison from turning on others in hopes of a reduced sentence.

"Organized crime" today is different. It is not the classic "family business" of the past, or mafia movies. It includes gangs and cartels. In a very real sense, Trump is an example of the lowest of low-lifes in organized crime.
