Kidlet went through all sorts of stages when she was going through tween/teen ages, and most of her stages were based off her peers, not her teachers or any other adults around.
Kids at 11 - 16 are caught emotionally between bouts of hormones and the desire to for in. They're going to say all sorts of things one just has to roll with, but the most important thing to watch for is what makes them physically distressed or clinically depressed.
