Viruses have been considered as major environmental factors that trigger the autoimmune phenomena in genetically susceptible individuals [2,3]. Multiple mechanisms have been proposed to explain the breakdown of self-tolerance by viral infections
Genetic predisposition + environmental trigger (which may be a virus, among other things).
I don't think it's me that is making this personal. This is at least twice you've told me I'm wrong about something and then quoted something to correct me which says pretty much exactly what you claimed I was wrong about.
