He has spent his life cheating and bullying people, and his victims have been afraid to hit back at him. Just like the bully in the playground, once the other kids see ONE kid punch the jerk in the nose, the spell is broken.
When Carroll bloodies his nose (and I think she'll be successful), the floodgates will open. We will start to see victims come forward, victims of crimes that will shock the nation.
Oh, and once their hero has been defeated by a 'mere' woman, his followers will turn away from him in disgust.
That's my prediction, anyway. Helps me sleep at night.
