(14,120 posts)The ideas and ideals of the democratic party has been enforced, believe it or not, by the Sonoran desert itself.
You must coexist, take care of each other and the environment to survive.
These lessons were taught to the Navajo and Apache long ago. Yes they fought many times for the land but the desert still made them learn to coexist.
The Spanish came and had to learn these laws the hard way to. Any and all that came here must follow the rules of the desert or suffer.
During lockdown the desert was sending us reminders that we had to adapt and take care of each other because it was ready to take back what it has allowed us to have.
To this day we have people come in bringing their silly notions that their race and ideas are greater than the law of the desert. But the Sonoran puts them and their descendent in line with the law.
When I first came to Tucson I met some older members of the Tohono Oʼodham tribe. They told me stories about the law and how we all must follow it to survive.
Then and there I knew I found home.
This land is definitely not for everyone. But if you can live with the law of the desert, you can thrive. That's the prime reason Southern Arizona is blue and the north is red.
