It's a matter of priorities.
"Sure, picking up and leaving can be done. But in many cases there are outrageous hurdles to jump. Posting how many people do it to someone expressing the angst of the OP seems a little callous to me."
One of my great grandfathers was sold to a well to do farmer when his father died as his mother couldn't support him or his other siblings who she also sold. After he worked enough years, he had to live in the barn with the animals, to earn his freedom, he saved his money and immigrated to the US where he became a successful businessman and made enough money to pay for for his brothers and sisters to come to the US.
Your "outrageous hurdles" are a minor inconvenience to others.
