As I read it, the OP is saying that protecting LGBT rights isn't a winning election strategy, so Dems should keep quiet about it?

Obscene. I wish DU had a way to un-rec an OP. And no, I don't believe for a minute that the Democratic party will sweep LGBT rights under the rug this election year. That's being proven. In places like Minnesota and Michigan, where Dems have gained full control of the state governments, Dems have moved swiftly to support and protect LGBT rights.
