53. I can't even remember the last time I was in a situation where the PoA was recited.

It always amuses me, however, to hear grown adults reciting the pledge in the same singsongy, short-verse, broken-stanza style that's taught to youngsters. In reality it is a well-constructed single sentence that should be read (or spoken) as such.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands. One nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Not:

I pledge allegiance...
to the flag...
of the United States...
of America. 👈 (period not needed here. It ruins the meaning.)
And to the republic...
for which is stands...
one nation...
under god...
with liberty...
and justice...
for all.
