In reply to the discussion: "Do you not speak English?" -- Nazi Gorka to BBC Host [View all]Emrys
(9,097 posts)For us in the UK, it confirmed that Trump's core support - indeed, his bevy of spokespeople - are revolting, certifiably bonkers and will say anything, and in the end have nothing other than frothing bollocks. I think we'd already grasped that.
For Gorka and his Klan, what did this interview achieve? It's not geared to an American audience - if he speaks for anyone, it's the already terminally irredemiable - and I doubt his rote performance gained any converts outside the USA. I expect he got some sort of glow because he got to stick it to and speak "truth" to the Brits. That's his world. We don't have to co-inhabit it. Especially now, when he has no influence nor credibility, if he ever had any.
Meanwhile, there are a large number of developments on the current US scene that would be far more illuminating to cover, and might offer insights into the UK's own internal struggles.
That's just one reason I don't rely on the UK MSM for my coverage of any international affairs, let alone US ones. Hell, I hardly rely on it for domestic coverage! We know the BBC has been taken over by the UK government thanks to its many placepeople. It should have freer rein over its news coverage of what's happening in the rest of the world, so I see no excuse. This is what passes for "news" from what was once a respected outlet.
I pay for it. It sucks.
