(11,767 posts)It is easier that way. Religion lends itself to that end with the very keys to "heaven" promised to those that follow, and eternal damnation to those who oppose.
Any system can be used. People have even tried to use Science to influence and control people, but the thing about science is that it is based on observation, testing, re-testing, re-testing, etc... to arrive at the most accurate conclusions. Like I said, people used science to try to classify and rate human beings as "better or less than" through phrenology, blood purity, etc... but those ideas fell out (at least within the science) of use because they were WRONG. We still have problems with how people us IQ testing and with some lingering wrong ideas about Black people in Medical Science, but science as a method of inquiry keeps moving toward understanding in the most comprehensive way, the world around us. Religion on the other hand, wants us to accept the pre-ordained "truth" without question.
There is NO WAY to prove or disprove religious claims. It is made up from fairytales passed on orally until written down, interpreted, re-interpreted, translated, re-translated, etc...
Why would you expect that people would have one idea of what Christ is like when there are hundreds of different religions each with their own subdivision of sects. Hell Christianity itself has divisions withing Catholicism, Orthodoxy, Protestantism, and then the thousands of denominations within those branches. There would only be ONE Christian religion if there was an actual "truth" to it.
