14. Oddly worded headline

You can't really schedule an impeachment. They can schedule an inquiry and hold hearings, but they have no idea in advance when they will actually hold a vote, or if their caucus will hold, and all of their members will vote for impeachment. Several of them are in districts that Biden won handily, and I doubt that all of them will vote lockstep to impeach Joe Biden for offenses he obviously never committed. All it takes is something like 5 of them to not go along, and McCarthy's hold on his caucus is already slip-sliding away. McCarthy knows he looks like even more of a fool than he does now if he loses an impeachment vote, so he won't even bring it to the floor unless he's more than positive it will pass. Either way, any impeachment, should it actually make it as far as a Senate trial, is as doomed to failure as the last three attempts of the last 25 years, and none have been as obviously a grudge action as this one.

What most bothers me is that after all the actions of every successive Republican administration since Nixon (with the possible exception of Ford), that their party is still ruled, to a great extent, by a nasty vindictiveness that transcends all limits of reasonable government.

Republicans have long abandoned Lincoln, and now strive for a government of few people, by few people, and in spite of the people.
