De-programming is an intense job for experienced therapists, and requires cooperation, that is, recognition that one has a problem.

However, some do break free. Reasons can include a sense of betrayal, an inability to continue holding the immense contradictions in one's mind, recognition of the consequences (why mafiosi flip), or just hitting rock bottom.

I favor the first two. He ain't being crucified for their sins. They're being crucified for his.

The impeachments and the Jan 6 hearings may have had zero payout, but in my opinion, justice is the tail end of accountability, which must come first, and often is sufficient.
