(94,292 posts)...you put 2 and 4 together and came up with 'apple.'
If and until there's something new this prosecutor brings forth -who's had 5-years and all the authority he needed to investigate and bring charges anywhere in the nation, and came up with a late payment of taxes and a gun charge that's rendered moot by a ruling the law is unconstitutional in a similar case - all of this concern is a wasted effort.
There's no new threat to Hunter Biden, and it was NOT this designation by Garland which triggered the unraveling of the plea deal which extended this case.
Nothing after that judge balked and refused the plea deal meant that the case was going away, so it's absurd to blame the SC appointment for the reality that the Hunter Biden probe isn't over.
But having the ability to put the REPUBLICAN-LED committee off until after the election doesn't control that eventuality in any way at all. There is no straight line to be drawn between the two.
Having an SC designation doesn't give Weiss ANY MORE authority than he ALREADY HAD to continue his probe as long as he wants. He always had that option.
