Most of our towns are filled with old wood buildings not up to code and many areas in the state have been experiencing dry weather. Our emergency response needs to improve. Wind gusts are normal here (trade winds), but hurricanes and tropical storms down trees onto power lines. There are smokers who toss their cigarettes before they go back inside, too, because they can't smoke inside.
We need to prepare because we have nowhere to go out in the middle of the Pacific.
