Because he is more than a candidate to them but rather a persecuted messianic figure. Also, beware the Law of Unintended Consequences because nobody will bring out the vote more on the Left than having Trump as the GOP nominee. Let's be honest...Biden's approval numbers would not be as low as they are if Democrats soundly supported him. The Left may be far more anti-Trump than they are pro-Biden.
