(60,306 posts)26. Before the 60's African Americans didn't get a fair shake.
When I was assigned to Kagnew Station in east Africa. The first African American was serving his first tour. The radio station only played country, no rock, no soul, no jazz.
Because of our mission it was feared that blacks would side with fellow Africans. The base didnt include blacks in orientation. The presenter was not kind to the locals.
