Since Clinton left office, it seems like Israel has done whatever it wants. Bulldozing neighborhoods. Stealing land. Their domination has lead them to believe that an apartheid state is the norm. At some point the Palestinians and Hamas were going to remind them of reality. Israel can't just ignore the plight of Gaza residents.

Blaming the victim is always BS, but in this case I see the cause and effect. Hamas brutality is the reaction, not the action. I am surprised that it has taken this long. In many ways, they have been incredibly patient with the lack of action in Israel. Elections there keep wielding more conservative governments. It seem obvious that Israel does not even recognize a problem. Sadly, it should be recognizable and hard to ignore now.

If Israel is smart, they will grudgingly accept a two state solution and get busy on a compromise. When Hamas gets drones and more modern technology, the cities in Israel will start to look like Beirut. If Israel thinks they can bomb their way to peace, they are mistaken. I am not sure their current administration is capable of bold diplomacy.
