9. Muckraker's defense here is the old 'people are saying'

(including on 'social media') - and that make Boebert's charge that he/they are knowingly pushing lies - defamatory. The action committee's position is that while they don't know the allegations to be true, they don't know them to be false either. And ironically, while the defamation may well run in both directions here - Boebert as a 'public figure' has much less protection against it than would a private citizen (or a PAC such as Muckraker?).

In an interview, Wheeler acknowledged that they weren’t saying they had conclusive proof Boebert did what she was accused of, but that the allegations were corroborated by multiple sources and widely spread on social media. He notes that when one accusation was explicitly disproven, he took it down from his website.

Boebert is completely unfit for the office, and I'm going to be as happy as anyone to see her gone - hopefully with a resounding defeat and the voter's boot up her a**. Same time - not real sure that I can be terribly happy with Muckrakers rather casual relationship with 'truth' and facts. Is it safe to say a pox on both their heads?
