(61,033 posts)as does Israel. I also feel Hamas has to go as there have been many assassinations in the region over the decades, including Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, an attempted assassination of President Nasser of Egypt, and others.
The Muslim Brotherhood assassinated Sadat
HAMAS formed in late 1987 at the beginning of the first Palestinian intifada (uprising). Its roots are in the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, and it is supported by a robust sociopolitical structure inside the Palestinian territories.
Bad penny Netanyahu also has to go. His admin's intelligence arm failed miserably here, but also were wrong in thinking keeping Hamas in place for control of Gaza was the right way to go. Of course he/they couldn't have been more wrong.
On this immediate crisis now, I feel Biden is correct in backing Israel to go after Hamas. He and Sec'y Blinken are urging restraint in how it's done...perhaps special forces to go after Hamas' tunnels instead of a full-on invasion of Gaza.
