(8,679 posts)fabrication and rumour mongering. They are the print versions of click-bait journalism. When something ONLY appears in their pages one has to assume it is exageration, rumour, or outright fraud intended to push a headline.
It does not help to speculate on the oft repeated rumors about Putin's health or state of mind, however entertaining that may be, based upon what is clearly disinformation. To do so repeats the formula so well exploited by Murdoch and his ilk and distorts our reality based system at DU.
It might be a suggestion to make a discussion area for such topics and material to be posted and discussed, if only to track the disinfo and the sources.
I would prefer DU does not become dominated by material which of itself requires rigorous and repeated truth-checking. There is already enough doubt about reliable sources and possible leaning or filtering on their part.
