In reply to the discussion: Fox News host's '$90 Turkey' claim mocked as prices plunge in 'Thanksgiving miracle' [View all]FormerOstrich

Sometimes I just shake my head....
The retail price of Turkey's is the worse possible commodity to try to use as an indicator of the (current) economy. Turkey's are a loss leader. Retailers heavily discount to lure you into the store.
Other considerations are a lot of turkeys are processed months and months before November. How much inventory built up depends on a lot of factors such as the cost of cold storage, variables in transportation, and variables in holding costs/interest/inflation.
Then of course, is not all turkeys are the same (such as the free-range, organic, pumped full of drugs, and other things).
I hate it when those throwing shit at the wall comes up with nonsensical crap.
