In reply to the discussion: Jake Tapper wonders where the outrage over the rape and murder of Israeli women is. [View all]RandomNumbers
(19,290 posts)It was basically couched as a terrorist attack, yes. But we were left to imagine the details. OF COURSE rapes occurred. Because, Hamas follows no normal laws of morality - and least not when it applies to non-Muslims I guess?
So many liberals want to be "both sides" on this (leaving out the ones that are uncompromisingly pro-Hamas). But there is NO valid "both sides" to the terrorism of Oct. 7. Yes you can question whether the IDF's tactics since Oct. 7 are appropriate*. But the question only exists because of what Hamas did on Oct 7 - and what they CONTINUE to do by refusing to release the hostages. (How much more raping are they doing while they are holding these hostages? Is a Hamas terrorist ever held accountable for war crimes by their own government? )
* Obviously there is room for energetic discussion about Netanyahu / Likud treatment of Palestine before October 7th. But the terrorist actions on Oct 7 have pretty much obliterated any channel for peaceful discussion. Return the hostages and turn over war criminals for prosecution. Then perhaps there will be some possible path to peace.
