(1,410 posts)And I am not a religious person but try to be a good person.
The point I was trying to make, there are religious people that are good, moral souls.
The Carter's being exhibit A.
We shouldn't critique (broad brush was the post I recall) people due to their religious beliefs, IF!!!!, they use their religious beliefs to try to make their corner of the World a better place.
My lifetime of experiences has shown be there are many people who claim to be religious, but in reality, they are complete immoral assholes. And these people aren't just Christians, they are a part of every religion.
All of us have also seen atrocities done under the cover of religion that are highly immoral.
Push comes to shove, I would claim we are all living in Heaven now, this beautiful planet (except for Texas, I KID, partially) was some how gifted to us to build upon, make better.
So if a person professes to be a Christian AND shows the aptitude to make this place better, I have zero issues calling that person a Brother or Sister.
The majority of 'Good People' I have encountered are not religious. BUT, there are good religious people.
Does that help?
Edit to add: I am not in the league with the Carters. If they are playing in the Major Leagues, I am playing Single A in Salinas.
