…for a gigantic march.

I was really taken aback at the group(s) marching with banners and signs referencing Zionism, and making it plain that “Zionists” were at fault for our predicament. I made a point of marching far away from them. I was middle aged, not a kid, and I just hadn’t seen this before among political allies.

When I got home to California I talked it over with my husband, who was raised in New York City until he was 18. He said that the further Left you get in the US, the more openly anti-Semitic the groups are. I knew all along that while I’m a Democrat, he’s more to the Left — but on this occasion he said that the reason he had not joined certain groups as a young man was the frank anti-Semitism.

American Jews were supporting and in the forefront of progressive politics long before I was born. Schumer is a treasure — pay heed.
