2. Agreed, they don't want a solution

because that would negate the issue in an election year. They don’t want to go back to their districts and say “I worked with Joe Biden on a bipartisan border solution” — their Fox-addled constituents would view that as a betrayal. They just want to point at Biden and say, “We could solve this if only the evil Democrats weren’t stopping us! Just get rid of Biden and the border won’t be a problem any more!”

And if it means letting Putin march across Europe, they’ll gladly do it. In fact some of them see that as a bonus.
