(72,477 posts)I used to carry a weapon for a living. In the U.S. Army. I qualified Expert on the M-16 rifle and the Beretta 9mm pistol, and crewed a tank that shot a superior score in live-fire training.
And I had to be in top physical condition in order to meet the hardships that come with actually, truly, genuinely defending something. Every single day. Push-ups, sit-ups, a five-mile run. Weight-lifting at the gym three times a week.
Oh, and while I was doing all that, the firearms I underwent constant training to use well were locked up tight in the arms room. I wasnt allowed to just strut around with them.
Having put in the hard work of helping defend a nation, I dont give a shit for someone who thinks swaggering around with deadly weaponry is just exercising his Second Amendment rights.
