(5,370 posts)Narratives form in the media. I used to work in it. It's not uncommon for reporters to go out and find subjects to interview that support the narrative.
Here's an example: after 9-11, an AP photographer living in the Mideast was told to go out and take pictures of people celebrating the attacks. She told her bosses, "No one is celebrating the attacks. They're all inside, watching CNN. Everyone's in shock." Bosses didn't care. Her job was to go out and find people celebrating because "everybody knew" that was what was happening over there. She ended up having to drive to a refugee camp to get the photos she was told to take.
I'm not saying Biden doesn't have significant challenges. But the situation on the ground is probably nuanced -- it always is -- and the media doesn't do nuance. Not when there's a narrative.
