36. VA is highly rated next to private systems ...

... When I got out of the Navy, I went to work at the Brecksville VA in Ohio. My first night I came home I told my wife no matter what happens do noy let me die in a VA hospital. When I was younger, it was known that the VA was where you went when you had no other place to go, generally a Vet went there to die.

Thirty years later I when I lost my 'Cadillac' insurance, I had no idea where to go with what turned out to be cancer.

My wife made out the papers, made me sign and I went along with it so she could see for herself what a pit VA was for herself.

They made an about face in those intervening thirty years.

What I've found is that most people who have concerns about VA mean to advocate for us Vets. You have no idea how much that means to me. The trouble is it almost has nothing to do with the system but has to do with specific cases. And a lot of these cases are second or third hand.

Also a lot of these concerns has to with Agent Orange and Asbestos. The determinations in these cases are made by VA through records kept by the Army and the Navy. Some of these records are in complete and a huge amount of them were lost in the St Louis fire in the late 70s.

In the seventies the Pentegon felt that burn barrels and Agent Orange weren't harmful and the Air Force and Navy felt fire suppression chemicals and aircraft paint removal system were safe. They made/ very few records on it. How does an ex-serviceman proove he was exposed to burn barrels? Or prove there was Agent Orange contaminating aircraft The Navy felt until very recently that no blue water navel personel were exposed to AO, only brown water sailors and Marines.

Thankyou for caring about Vet.
