Because the jury did not find he committed rape.

Yet Judge Kaplan ruled that, as the word is commonly understood, he did commit rape.

That silly judge--doesn't know the technical meaning of terms.

Here's Merriam-Webster:

guilty

guiltier; guiltiest
Synonyms of guilty
1: justly chargeable with or responsible for a usually grave breach of conduct or a crime


Note the disjunctive.

So, yeah. For purposes of criminal law, Trump has not been found guilty.

For purposes of common understanding, he has been. I'd say what the jury found he did was a grave breach of conduct.

And what, exactly, you gain from this particular quibble escapes me.
