15 military bases with over 164 thousand personnel (as of 9/2017) and about $100 billion in economic impact.
And that's just one aspect of the financial disaster they would go through.
On the other hand, Texas has 25 Republican and 13 Democrat US House members, and 2 Republican Senators. Losing that would be a big positive for the rest of the nation.
