Horace Greeley may have said something like that, in early 1861...somebody did, anyway..
On the other hand, the power of the United States military is much greater than that of all the neo-Confederate states put together, today...
if they think they could beat it, they are living in fantasyland...
The question would be, are we better off with them, or without them ?
I am ambivalent about forcing such states to remain in the Union "at the point of the bayonet"....
if they really want to go off on their own...
(and I don't think they are worth retaining, at the price of blood of our troops)
Then again, I would not be opposed to seal-teams going in there and taking out a few of the most smelly secessionist politicians,
if they actually attempted to secede.
There was a secessionist Facebook group who locked their page yesterday--- after the question of whether they would still receive their Social Security checks arose, LOL--- then they suddenly made their group "private" LMAO
