(22,593 posts)This is a lousy thing to happen to anyone, no matter their station in life. I'm sure he'll have the best of care, and he won't have any worries about paying for it. Of course the same could be said for even the lowliest citizen of his country, since health care is free to all in the UK. (Envious? Who, me?) But he will certainly have the widest possible range of options for treatment.
As an American, I don't really have an opinion about whether the UK or any other country should have a monarchy. Not my country, not my business. It frankly seems a bit crass to me to use this news as a springboard to post an anti-monarchy rant. Whatever one may think of the system into which Charles and other royals were born, they are human beings (very privileged ones, but humans nonetheless), and this is news nobody wants to get. I think we would all do well to remember that.
