(5,354 posts)I do believe in redemption, but I was always taught there are steps to reaching it.
1. You have to accept responsibility for whatever you've done wrong. You can't deny responsibility, or scapegoat others.
2. You need to make ammends to whomever you've harmed in a significant manner, even if it requires a hardship on yourself.
3. You need to try and better your behavior from then on.
4. Also you have to be able to love others, not just yourself.
I don't see any signs that DT is capable of any of those steps at present. Maybe you're right, and that could change, but he'd have to realize he needs to change, and as long as he continues to think he's perfect the way he is, that's not going to happen.
I am just far more concerned about all the people he has hurt physically and emotionally already, and all the future damage he will reek on even more, if given the chance , than his well being.
Judging his soul is up to his creator, but the Our Father does say, "Deliver us Lord from every evil. Grant us peace in our day, keep us free from sin, and all anxiety." So in reality I am not asking God for anything different than I have in that prayer many times in my life.
I mean think of the millions of innocent lives that might have been saved, if Hitler or Stalin, had just dropped dead of natural causes.
I am not saying my thinking is correct, but it's just how I feel.
