9. Rape is not about the sex...

It's about controlling and humiliating the victim. Sexual humiliation in particular is a focus because our cultures have such a weird prioritization about sex (or gender)and when/how it's acceptable or not.

Not saying castration might not stop some rapes, but the rapist will find some other way to get his (or her) jollies torturing a child or other person they consider inferior or legitimate prey.

The perpetrators are looking to destroy another sentient being. Period. The act of rape is only one of the means to do so.
