I attended a seminar about LGBTQ+, focusing on the trans community. [View all]

Even though I identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, I know I still have lots to learn about my comrades.

The panel discussion on trans was extremely enlightening.

One of the common misunderstandings is that we, as a society, are still stuck in binary thinking male / female.

Many of the trans community are embracing a non-binary identity. The leader of the panel, non-binary, disclosed that they had chosen to stop taking testosterone. They originally had planned to go from cis-female to complete male, but found that non-binary was their true identity.

All of the RW hysteria about cis-males putting on a dress to "play act" to get access to vulnerable women is just their paranoid bigoted imaginations.

If they were to actually spend time and listen to the stories of these real people, they might understand how their hate and fear is so baseless.

But, they will never do that.

We need to stand up for trans people especially right now, their bodies and souls are being attacked daily.

It's horrific.
