26. Many treat politics like a team sport.

You root for your guys. You boo the other guys. Winning is all that matters. The issues/consequences/long term impact of the votes don't really matter as long as your guys score another victory on whatever the vote is for.

I fully believe that is the mentality that many people (voters) have. With that in mind, it isn't so surprising that the coach won.
