if the argument is that there are concerns about data privacy, the same is true for most other social apps.

It's possible to buy data from Facebook about all sorts of things users do and are for example so the Chinese can also do that anyway.

If it is about stopping disinformation, again the same issue exist elsewhere.

That bill is taking a sledgehammer to a problem that requires a more targeted approach.

it's going to backfire big time. Another perfect example of our elected officials being uninformed about tech and the innerworkings of the internet platforms in general, yet legislating anyway.
