can't see this holding up to the test of time.
How can you prohibit someone from appealing a court ruling that fines them 400 million dollars unless they first pay the 400 million dollars? That would basically be denying an American citizen their right to appeal if they weren't able to afford the penalty they are appealing.
Again, it's sad that I have to put in this disclaimer, but no, I'm not taking Trumps side here. But imagine judges setting bond so high in common cases that no one could afford it, and telling them they weren't allowed to appeal until they paid a bond that no person could ever hope to afford.
Even though this makes Trump miserable, I have fears this is all going to seriously backfire in the end. I even wonder if he actually does have the money, but is playing this angle on purpose.
Forgive my skepticism, but I just don't trust this guy much.
