(11,767 posts)People tend to create a nostalgia around ...once upon a time. MLK Jr. was absolutely HATED by A LOT of people, who were not directly involved in the Civil Rights movement. People were either indifferent or cheered when Pinkertons roughed up striking workers during the labor movement.
Most protests were not appreciated until a great while after what they were fighting for became, "normalized".
The people in this action calling a jewish person a "Zionist Pig" are disgusting. People need to stop equating their anger at the policies of the right wing Israeli government with being "Jewish" and need to stop using anti semitic language. You can protest government actions without bringing essential elements of people into the equation. Jewish people are NOT the problem. Right Wing ideologies are the problem.
I absolutely revile Conservatism. I think it is a horrible political ideology. I would go after any leader within the Conservative movement and try to make them answer why they hold such horrible ideas in their heads. To the average follower, I would take a different approach and question what about Conservatism, they think actually works for them. Different approaches for different ends.
Protests are typically to bring attention to an issue and to express sentiment against a some action. It has not typically been meant to "win people to the cause" but to galvanize people who are already in the cause for further actions.
