You can see the series on Hulu and it's absolutely some of the best investigative journalism out there. It's pretty incredible how Mariana Van Zeller infiltrates these underground networks and makes contact with, interviews and follows some of the most dangerous people in the world..

Anyway....

This episode talks about how young immigrant men coming into the US have little to no social support and they end up finding support in street gangs...and street gangs know this and specifically seek them out. The added benefit to the gangs is these young men are used to being around violence and easily socialized into it.

Then these young men may get deported and they bring back what the learned from American Gangs back to their home towns/cities.
