In reply to the discussion: Trump is not going to make it through this trial [View all]PatrickforB
(15,423 posts)father used to call, 'butt-itis.' Your butt just starts to ache and you long to stand and stretch, maybe walk a bit. To sit in a chair for hours at a time without the freedom to stand up and walk around can be real torture.
Now, I think Trump is completely odious and too dangerous to be walking around free, he really is, but I can definitely feel some compassion about the physical discomfort. He bears a huge karmic burden and the weight of it is clearly tearing him apart. It is painful to watch, and it would be a mercy if the trial went quickly so he can rest in a confined space, assuming there will be some incarceration.
But the OP is right. This whole thing is taking a horrible toll on him. Again, it is painful to watch. But karma is taking its terrible course. A lesson for all of us, I think, because we all have faults, and we must fight against becoming a cruel society. We already have become so, but we here at DU can offer hope to the country by not being that way.
I do not feel sorry for Trump because he must go through this. And he really should be locked up for the good of all of us, because I do not think restorative justice can work around his personality disorder.
The person behind all this is Putin. Russia interfered in our election, otherwise Hillary Clinton surely would have won. Trump hurt us badly because he is by nature a divider, and by dividing us, he figures deep down he can come out on top. It worked for too long and too many people died. He was a miserable president, hurt this republic deeply and cannot be allowed near the White House ever again. We must as a society learn this lesson.
We must.
